The church was one of Polizzi's parish churches and features a splendid vault with gold decorations.

Built in the 14th century, it was later extended in the 17th century and finally became a parish church in the 18th century.
the church has two monumental entrances: the main one built in the Renaissance style and the side entrance in a picturesque Gothic style. Once inside, several works can be admired, including the wooden statue of Sant'Orsola painted with thistle flowers by De Matta.
The 17th century painting of the Immaculate Conception by Fra' Antonio da Conversano where the Virgin, surrounded by angels playing music, towers over the seven-headed hydra symbolising earthly sins.
