Now a Christian church, it was formerly a mosque erected by the Arabs who lived in the lower part of the town.
BRIEF HISTORICAL BACKGROUND VISIT ROUTE IN BRIEF
Built in pre-Norman times, its minaret was destroyed during Angevin rule and then rebuilt by the Aragonese. In 1361, the mosque was converted into a Christian church and the minaret was replaced with a picturesque bell tower with a tiled dome (later destroyed by lightning).
Inside, there are two canvases depicting San Domenico and San Biagio respectively, both belonging to the Zoppo di Gangi school.
