The building occupies an entire block and was the Jesuit Fathers' College attached to the Church of San Girolamo.

Commissioned by the Jesuit fathers under Friar Girolamo Mistretta as the Order's only seat in the territory, after 1866 the palace became the seat of the municipality.
Today it is home to the Palace of Culture with numerous museums

A visit to part of the historical Duca Lancia di Brolo Library, one of the most well-stocked in Sicily with its 40,000 volumes, and its ancient incunabula, sixteenth- and seventeenth-century books and many manuscripts.
