Dominating a large square, the palace was the seat of the Regia Secrezia, an office that collected taxes on behalf of the sovereign in state-owned towns like Polizzi.

The palace, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, later became the home of the Gagliardo barons of Carpinello.
The building is distinguished by its long façade and the two characteristic sundials on either side of the balcony above the main gate.
The monumental staircase leading up to the palace from Via Garibaldi is adorned with majolica vases depicting illustrious figures linked to the history of Polizzi.
