The Novena di Natale is a religious practice involving the recital of special prayers for nine consecutive days, ending on Christmas Eve.
In Polizzi Generosa, this tradition is greeted with special fervour, with the aim of reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas and preparing for the birth of Jesus.

• Main events of the Novena

Prayers and religious celebrations: during the Novena, the churches of Polizzi Generosa host daily masses culminating in special dedicated liturgies, where traditional Christmas carols and Bible readings recall the prophecies of Christ's advent.
In particular, every evening at 9 p.m. in the Church of Maria SS. dell'Udienza the Novena is celebrated, with the liturgy of the Benedictine Friars of Subiaco, with traditional Christmas carols accompanied by the sound of musical instruments.
